AUTOMOTIVE AND SPARE PARTS LOGISTICS

It takes about 30,000 pieces to build an automobile today.

The automotive industry has made the world a global village. The parts required for the production of a vehicle can be supplied from many different countries. The vehicles produced are distributed all over the world. Production facilities operate 24/7 without stopping. This necessitates an uninterrupted spare parts logistics.

One of the world’s largest industries is the automotive industry. At the same time, it is a sector where competition is intense. Automotive brands prefer to work with trusted suppliers in order to maintain both their quality and profitability. One of the most important suppliers in the automotive industry is the automotive logistics companies in the supply chain.

AUTOMOTIVE AND SPARE PARTS LOGISTICS

The importance of timing in automotive production is undisputed. In order for the production line not to stop, there must be a certain security stock and the parts must be brought to the facility by the logistics company on time.  When we look at this process holistically, we are actually faced with the understanding of supply chain management.

Automotive manufacturers who want to maintain their profitability avoid working with high stocks. For this reason, they adopt the logistics approach of JIT (just in time).

SUPPLY CHAIN FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR

It is important to work with companies experienced in 3PL and 4PL in warehouse management and logistics processes in order to increase profitability by reducing costs in automotive production. Knowing the needs and dynamics of the sector, supply chain specialist companies will contribute to the profitability of the brand in every step from A to Z, from the collection, storage, transfer of materials from the supplier to the production facility to the end user.

It is possible to take the materials from the facility, to store them by providing appropriate conditions if necessary and to transport them to the main production facility on time with a specialist team.

AUTOMOTIVE LOGISTICS SOLUTIONS

Automotive spare parts and sub-industry logistics is a service required by suppliers of all sizes. This service can be planned in different ways according to the needs of the manufacturers. Here are automotive spare parts and sub-industry logistics solutions;

CONTRACT LOGISTICS

In line with a plan, it is preferred by companies with regular logistics activities. This transportation agreement is made by a fixed fee, covering a certain period, by the manufacturer and the logistics company. In this way, producers are not affected by price fluctuations in the logistics sector and can make budget planning easier. At the same time, since they work with a specific company, they can reach an easier solution in all kinds of issues.

PARTIAL TRANSPORT (LTL)

Partial transport is a preferred method for loads that do not fully fill a vehicle. In short, it is based on sharing a vehicle with different load owner or owners. With the partial transport option, manufacturers pay as much as the area covered by the load for their loads that do not fully fill a vehicle and can carry out logistics processes at more affordable prices.

FULL TRUCK LOAD (FTL)

The FTL, as used in full loading or international logistics, is used for the logistics of loads that fully fill a vehicle. With FTL, which is one of the door-to-door logistics services, you can carry out your one-time or rare transportation operations. However, if you need regular logistics on a specific route, it would be more logical to use the contract logistics option. Because the price of logistics service does not change periodically in contract logistics, you do not have difficulty in finding a vehicle when logistics is intense and your transports are more economical and budget friendly.

SPRINT TRANSPORT

Fast transport, also known as sprint transport, is ideal for shipments with time constraints. Transports that can take 10-15 days with a normal logistics process can be delivered in 2 days with fast transport. Here, the use of a double driver is one of the factors that accelerate the logistics process. In addition, small vehicles are generally preferred for fast transport, thus shortening the mileage by using roads where large vehicles are not allowed to drive. It can be a little more costly than other logistics options due to reasons such as fast transport and the use of double drivers.
AUTOMOTIVE SUBSIDIARY INDUSTRY AND SPARE PARTS STORAGE SOLUTIONS

For the storage of automobile parts, specialized storage areas and technologies are needed for these parts. In addition, the warehouse process should be supported with stock control technologies such as labeling, RFID, and warehouse management modules that support order systems.

In addition to these services, value-added services such as simple assembly operations, waste and waste management, product quality control can also be added to warehouse management. This will be a process facilitating 4PL partnership for both suppliers and car manufacturers.
